I am a contemporary basket maker with a passion for an ancient craft weaving tradition with contemporary design. My creative process promotes a sustainable and environmental approach to creating pieces that are inspired by the beautiful colour palette of the Connemara landscape. I have a “plant to basket” practice which means I actively engage in willow growing and harvesting from my own Sally Garden, ensuring a minimal environmental footprint as a zero-waste artisan. My passion is to craft my work in harmony with nature and the seasons and engage with the delicate balance between harvesting willow and nurturing the environment. To perfect my craft, I underwent a transformative apprenticeship with Ciarán Hogan, a renowned figure in traditional Irish craft making and weaving. This opportunity allowed me to delve deep into the world of traditional Irish techniques, refining my skills in stake and strand forms and my understanding of this ancient craft.
