Alison McEvoy is graduate of Limerick School of Art and Design, having originally gone with the idea of studying Painting she gained a degree in Fashion Design. Painting and drawing has always happened in the background. Her work as a pen and watercolour artist is primarily landscapes including unusual trees, bogland, winding paths and roadways. Her work is mostly very small intricate pieces and can go up to 1m. Using a .05 pen which is similar to a small grain of sand, Alison brings to life the intricate details of bogland, among other locations, inviting viewers to immerse themselves in its peaceful atmosphere. Much like bogland, she creates her work in many layers, whether it’s multiple sittings to complete a pen drawing or beginning with pen, then layering watercolour and adding the finishing textures in pen once again. Each step adds something new. Whether it's the layers of pen strokes or the composition, your eye is drawn into the image, winding through it to the focal point. Alison's work features on fine art cards, notebooks, giclee prints and originals.
