The Big Shed for most of the year is a working farm shed storing farm equipment and grain. However, several times a year, it transforms into a unique and vibrant festival location.
As an event venue, it is famously and best known as the Festival Fringe location for the annual Kerrygold Ballymaloe Literary Festival of Food and Wine. The Big Shed transforms into an enormous indoor market, demonstration area and restaurant, bar and stage.
There are facilities on site and the space is extremely versatile.
Main Shed: 33m x 35m x 6.5m
Clear centre: 35m x 17m
Distance between pillars: 6m
As you walk into through the curtains of the big shed you are welcomed with music by local musicians and a visual spectacle of wild flower arrangements and lit art installations. You will be offered a Ballymaloe garden infused cocktail followed by a selection of canapés show casing our Cork artisan food producer's and produce from our gardens. Guests are then asked to find their way to a table... The bar will also be fully stocked serving craft beers and select wines from the house cellar.
